I have a 1988 2607 and it has never been able to keep up with temps above 95 and direct sunlight.... until now.
Originally there were three units installed a 16,000 BTU in the salon and a 6,000 in the from V berth and another 6,000 in the aft cabin.
Last year the aft unit stopped cooling and as I began the investigation I was dissapointed to find the coil fact the stern about 5 to 6 inches from the wall. On top of that the 4" duct that goes accross from the port location of the compressr and fan over to the starboard side register, passes between the coil and the wall. basically reducing the air flow accross the coils by 40%.
Just to inspect and clean the coils the vanity top must be removed.
Well three weeks ago I solved the Installation problems and the capacity issues. I removed the 6,000 BTU unit and installed a 12,000 BTU unit with the grill facing the starboard and accessible from the cabinet below the vanity. This unit has 6" duct that now goes directly out the vanity top to a 5 X 14 (70 sq. In) supply air register. The dcut is flex duct simila to what was installed. However I did have to custom build an enclose to match the surrounding teak and aphromosa (sp) panels. Mahogony works really well and I had enough accumulated teak trim to handle the corner. I ordered the teak trimmed 5X 14 luvered register and the local folks that have seen the end product comment that it looks like it is an original installation. I hated to cut into that vanity top, but it worked. The trick was building it so that it can come apart and not be detroyed should the entire unit ever require removal.
Now on a 95 degree day i can keep the cabin below 75 degrees and if I close the aft cabin doors it will pull that area down to something close to 65 during the day and even lower at night.

You said 2607...I assume you mean 3607.
We used to have a 3807 and the 3 AC units did a good job for us. If we wanted, at night time we could get the boat down into the low 60's - high 50's.

Yes 3607. Fat fingers
My other two units are still original. I keep the filters clean, but haven't had the freon checked in at least 9 years.

have a 3607 the owner before me put in 3 16,000 btu units it'll turn her in to a meat locker with it being 95 outside and heat up in to the high 80's in the winter. We love them...

I'm not on our boat right now but I think our 3607 also has three 16K units but we can only run two units at a time without tripping a breaker or over loading the circuits. One night our son-in-law kicked the third AC unit on without my knowledge and while it didn't trip the breaker it did get the 30AMP shore to boat power cable too hot at the boat juncture damaging the cable but thank God nothing more serious.
Always thought the 3607 came from the factory with three 16K AC units but maybe that was optional?
At any rate with just operating two AC units part of our boat will be a little uncomfortable in 100 plus temperatures.

never had any trouble running all 3 ac's the gen set will run all 3 too, Maybe your shore power hook up is not up to it, I do turn them on one at a time and spaced out by a minute or so as to not overload the system. Also your breakers could be weak..We can run everything without tripping breakers.

My 3807 had 3 units and while I'm not positive about their sizes, seems like I had a 16k, a 12k and a 9k and it was plenty. Of course, when all 3 were on, they were pulling about 29 amps.
If you have 3 - 16k's, unless they are fairly newer, high efficiency models, no way are you going to run all 3 on 30 amps.

so it took so long to get back in here, yes none of them are the old ones. As my post said owner before me replaced them with 16000 BTU units. it had the same set up as yours when she was new.
