Heads Up ! We have Veteran's Day approiaching. Time to think about the many men who have done so very much to ensure the survival of our Nation.
Here's a minor tale of Service,
Barely a footnote in history BUT significant because so many such men served the country with quiet distinction for so very long.
John Henry Sandor. Born to Hungarian immigrants in Colorado in 1914 and who attained his commission as an Ensign USNR from Northwestern after graduating with a Poli Sci degree in 1937. He completed flight training in 1938 and went Navy regular as a fighter pilot. He flew from the PACFLT carriers in several squadrons. He survived the war and a peacetime aircraft accident and retired from the Navy in 1948 as a Captain. Strong positive service reputation. One of the Good Guys.
He earned a J.D. from Denver University in 1953 and during his career was Assistant Attorney General for Minnesota, later a trial attorney for the Department of Agriculture and still later maintained a private practice in D.C. specializing in pro bono work for philanthropic activities.
A widower, his first wife died in a train wreck in North Carolina in 1943, he later married his interpreter while working in the Soviet Union in 1957. He died 3 years ago at age 97 in Rockville, Maryland. A long full life. BRAVO
