Do you stop in just to pump out? Do they frown on that? I always waited until I needed fuel.

The pump-outs are there to be used, there is no need to feel that you must buy gas every time you pump out.

IIRC, most of the pump-outs in our area are paid for by State/Federal grants which requires them to be available to all who need them on a free basis.

Now if you going to tie up the dock for a few hours pumping out and flushing your tank over and over and over without at least buying a soda or something those of us waiting to get in to the dock might hunt you down and dip you IN a holding tank! ;)

Seriously thou, Haverstraw has 3 pumpouts and you can usually squeeze in to one end of the dock or the other and still have access to them. You can sometimes even pop around the west end of the fuel dock and grab a pumpout on the backside of the dock. Have to be willing to tie to the pilings thou.

Well Mike and John said it all...We pump out when we have to...We do tip the kids on the dock as long as they lend a hand and we try not to do it when there are boats backed up for fuel...

Actually, the last two times I pumped out, I did it at night when the fuel dock was closed. I think it is very nice of Haverstraw to leave the pumps turned on so they are now my preferred fuel stop when local.

BTW, they CAN charge up to $5 for pumpout but I've only heard of one place doing this. Although Half Moon Bay tried so I told him I live in Croton and pay Croton sewer taxes already but if he really wanted me to pay so be it...he said nah, that's OK.

The only time I ever paid was at Roundout Yacht Basin a couple of weeks ago. Between fuelling up and transit slip, I dropped over $700 but they still charged me the $5. I was not happy and I considered taking it out on the girl that helped me dock(her tip) but didn't since she was a young girl and very nice. But, I did fill up there this weekend and did not tip...first time ever.

I felt like sending a thank you note to Haverstraw for leaving their pumps turned on but was afraid I'd get the dock hands in trouble. Then again, I probably shouldn't post here eh?

I didn't think so but I can check when I go up tomorrow night.

Butch,
yep that was me. were you the big boat right in front of me?

FWIW, I stopped by the Haverstraw Fuel dock after hours this evening and the pumpouts were indeed working.

Shhh, it's supposed to be a secret. But man, it has saved my weekend twice and for that I am grateful!

An empty holding tank is a happy holding tank!

Can we tie this in to the dog thread on NBR?

If my dog can't S**t on your street, you can't S**t in my marina!!

Seriously; We are more than happy to take S**t from all of our HRCC members.
