After Sandy I'd go with B. I was thinking the other day, that houses near the shore (not on the shore), could be built on a tub, sort of like a crawl space. The house would be float able and around pilings. Water, gas, electric and sewer would have breakaway connections.In a storm, the house would go up and down with the surge.

To be clear, this is just an Interesting question. I have no intention of purchasing either. I am in enough hot water with my wife already.

You new boat wouldn't fit in either so I would say pass! The true is if my boat was in my back yard I would never use it, I would down size to a runabout. I like going to a marina and socializing it's a huge part of the experience.
 
B looks nicer. Bigger party deck up above. More privacy. ("A" looks jammed up against another house on the left edge of the photo.).

Of course, location would be the bigger factor. Where are each of these located? If one was on a land-locked lake, and the other was on or near the ICW with access to more waters, the latter would win, hands down.
 
Neither. Living on the water is for the very brave or those on a non tidal location or those on a high hill!
 
I like B, similar to the lake cottages we have up here ... more rustic.
Altho, it'd mean a smaller boat. Hmm..
 
"A" is a nice little cottage a few doors away from the yacht club in Bay Harbor Mi. For just a few million dollars more, you might want to consider one of the homes that "A" looks out to: They're on Peninsula Dr, so Lake Michigan's Little Traverse Bay is their front yard, and their backyards have 120' of floating dockage and a view of cute little places like house A and the yacht club, across the 100' deep, perfectly clear lake made from a former quarry.
 
"B" is re-locatable. My brother lives in one like that on the Columbia River near Portland. Has for 30 years and has moved it twice.

Either way, I would want nothing but a diesel powered boat parked underneath my house.
 
I didn't realize that 'B' was floating; I just assumed those were docks around and under the house. I'd be happy with either one, though both are far, very far, outside my price range. We're in a developement house in the middle of Long Island, no water view - just our neighbors' homes. It's been a great place to raise our four kids, but now that they're on their own, we're looking into moving within the next four years. Could you buy one of those homes and donate it to someone worthy - such as me? Hy
