SOUTH DAYTONA -- A 2-year-old boy died after one of his legs was severed when he fell onto a boat propeller at the end of a Father's Day outing with his family, officials said.
The boy, Hadi Zulfiqar, was sitting with his 3-year-old brother on the back of an 18-foot sport boat when the accident occurred, a witness said. The boys' father, Hassan Zulfiqar, was attempting to move the boat onto a dry dock after a ride on the Halifax River when his son fell off the back of the boat and onto the propeller.
One of the boy's legs was severed in the accident, and he later died at a hospital, a paramedics spokesman said.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is investigating the accident.
