We are headed north and planned to spend tonight in Cape May. We now expect to hit Cape May around 1pm and are considering extending today's journey up to Absecon Inlet. Any opinions on exiting the Cape May Inlet at 1 pm with incoming tide and entering the Absecon Inlet around 4pm with an outgoing tide.
Thunderstorms could be the problem.
 
You shouldn't have any problems with Absecon inlet. The Golden Nugget marina is on channel 65 if you are going there. We are the next inlet up and all is calm.

We just got Emergency weather alert (from a Phila TV station). It appears we are under a sevevre thunderstorm watch starting 12:30 local time. I'm listening to the marine WX radio channel 2 and not hearing the alert.
Be cautious but I think your good.

Thanks for the input. We made AC at 3 pm and enjoyed watching the storm back home in Delaware as well behind us in Cape May.
Next leg will be Wednesday we hope.
 
A small but heavy rain storm came through Haverstraw this afternoon I got drenched walking to my boat and I was only a few boats away when it started!

Made Haverstraw from AC in one day and plan to depart Haverstraw on Monday.
