Regal boats had a nice display this year as we were in a rush I did not get to spend much time . They had 4 or 5 Cruisers up to the 40 ft model . Anyway the salesman I spoke to said they had several 08 repos that Regal was still honoring the full factory warranty, But based on the economy I'd say the crowd was pretty good But the big boats were not there , Ed

I was very impressed with the Regals. However, I was more impressed with the pricing of the comparable Larsons. Regals seemd to be about 3-40% higher for the same sized/similarly equippped boat.

I was at the Baltimore show a couple of weeks ago. I am a Regal fan but I really like one of the Larson boats. I believe it was a 30 footer. It had a great layout and was moderately priced.

Bob - Can you provide any examples?

Yes. The Larson Cabrio 330DC that was there had a boat show price of $186K, and the Regal 3350 (I think that was the one we were looking at) was over $300K. Now, I'm sure there was some big differences, like the engine sizes, electronics, etc., but they seemed pretty similar to me.

I wish I had taken pictures of the boats and the price tags with all the options, but I forgot my camera. :(

I had assumed that you were referring to bow riders, where the gaps between brands is more narrow (only so much you can do with a bow rider after all).

I am surprised that you consider the Larson and the Regal to be similar. I don't think they are intended to compete with one another. Larson is a price point brand, where Regal is a higher end brand. I have never owned a Regal cruiser, but from going to boat shows, they are by far my favorite express cruiser (although I am not crazy about their two tier cockpit designs in the sub 30' models). I think if you look closely, you will see that Regal puts a lot more effort into the details than almost any other brand, and the workmanship is top notch. Just poke your head underneath a helm of any Regal boat (runabout or cruiser) - the wiring is a work of art.

Nothing wrong with Larson, and they do have a great hull design (duo-connic), I am just saying that I think the extra cost of a Regal is warranted.

That is a crime to compare a Larson and a Regal. That is like comparing Rinker with SeaRay. Feel the bow rail on a Larson. Look at the fittings, hatches, handles, cleats, etc. Regal is priced higher because they are a more quality boat. If you want a good boat for the money go Larson. If you want a great boat for more moneyan go Regal. Also keep in mind that Regal will discount on those leftovers. I should know, I got one!!!!

I didn't mean to start an arguement or "dis" anyone's choice of boat, sorry about that! I just felt that the price difference was much more than the amount of quality you get on the Regal than with the Larson. There is no doubt that the Regal is much more luxurious than the Larson, and I'm sure if I could compare item for item the Regal would have had more features than the Larson, but from a quality standpoint, they didn't seem that far apart. I had the distinct feeling that you're paying for the Regal name, and that's OK, if that what you want.

Bob, I don't think anyone thought you were dissing any brand, just posting your observations. IMO Regal does build a better boat as others have described. Sometimes you have to look into the nooks and crannies to see the differences like, are the inside of lockers smooth and gel coated, what grade and gauge SS is used for hinges, cleats and rails, what's standard versus optional... you get my drift. Actually, I was thinking of calling you and asking if you want company on your trip to the AC show. Sorry I missed that opportunity.

Not saying you were dis-ing Regal. Just saying you can't compare boats like that. Regal has a higher MSRP but will discount. Larson goes the low route. But you will find differences in the boats as well. Larson is a good boat for the money.

Ah, too bad, however it would have been pretty crapmed in the way-back seat of the Durango. I had Jimmy and two other buddies with me.

You can buy a new 08 - Regal 3360 (It is a new dealer bank repo) in my area for about the same price as the Larson 330DC.

Is it the same price as the Larson 330DC that is a dealer repro in my area?

I was also at the AC show. I think you are comparing the 40' to the Larson 33' for 300k. I dont believe Regal had a 33 there. Size for size all boats were fairly close in price.
Jackson marine took all of Full Tilts boats when they went under. They are all 08' boats. I am sure there are great deals to be made on them. The 4460 could probably be had for close to 400k. That particular boat has an MSRP of over 600k. When comparing that to almost any other brand out there, that is a steal in the size range with IPS.
