Adding a bow thruster to a 3880.

The genny exhaust is under the swim platform. Without the modification the swim platform becomes a huge sounding board. I have over 400 hours on the generator using that setup and it is MUCH quieter than stock. There is also a place behind the salon TV where a bit of sound proofing is needed. No biggie and it shouldn't be a factor in your decision to buy/not buy this boat.

I have the 440 Yanmars. The 3880, now 4080 is small and light for her size but the interior room is awesome. Based on the thickness of the hull slug they cut out Regal didn't scrimp on the hull. (Got that from 2 different fiberglass guys). No major problems at all. Only 2 beefs are Regals insistence of using Faria gauges, LOTS of problems but excellent customer support and some leakage around the cabin windshield. We love her thou, perfect size for us and relatively inexpensive to operate.

Oh and if he does get this boat I have an excellent, simple genny exhaust modification which cuts down the noise dramatically!

When you added the pipe, did you simply clamp pvc onto exhaust. How long was PVC. The Kohler generator is so loud

There is a clamp around the pvc and swim platform brace only. The rubber piece is press fit into the exhaust hole. Extends down roughly 6" below the water line. When the boat is on plane the exhaust is completely out of the water so no issues there.
