On a 3880 (2006 model year) - There are two water discharge drains for the air conditioners to run off on the starboard side of the boat - I am only aware of one intake water strainer for the air conditioners located with the aft a/c below the deck in the main salon

Is there another intake water strainer located somewhere for the forward A/C? - reason for the question is that one of the two water discharges for the A/C's is stronger than the other while both A/C's are running and I am afraid there is a strainer I have missed cleaning for a year!

Nope, no missed strainer Richard.

Single water pickup split into 2 runs after the strainer and water pump. The difference in flow is due to the longer run to the forward AC unit. I believe in southern waters you can get a faster buildup in that line as well and some have to run a cleaner or reverse flush the line from time to time. Hopefully others will chime in on that issue as I haven't had it.

Yes,I can say I have not had that issue either.Good Luck. Hopefully you can run a strong water current threw to unblock.

Just to clarify my post a little, it is normal for one flow to be visibly weaker than the other.

Thanks Rommer and Billfish! - I will try putting a hose up to the discharge port - with the A/C turned off and see if the reverse pressure will clean some gunk out -

I did that last December when I had the boat lifted out to inspect the bottom and props - could not believe the brown mud that came out - I do not see why I can not do the same reverse pressure with the boat in the water

Thanks again

Nothing says you can't Richard. You'll be fighting a hell of a lot of water thou. Remember the AC inlet is roughly 2 feet below the waterline and you have to have enough pressure to over come that head pressure. Doable but you won't be able to see the out flow.

You could close the seacock, open the strainer and now back flush but all that crap will wind up in your bilge.

Thanks again Rommer!

I will give it a shot this weekend and see what happens -

I agree - do not want to do it with closed sea cock and opened strainer - That would be a mess!
