OK. Losing my patience.

Back in May, my AC guy said that my salon unit was shot and I need a new condenser and main control unit from Cruisair.

It is now 6/18 and after being told that it was on its way several times I'm now told that the unit is on backorder and will not ship until 6/26. They tell me that there are none anywhere.

I would like to get a second opinion on repairing the old unit. Can anyone recommend someone locally.

Thanks

You're lucky you don't have the AC guy we do up here, his motto is "Deees eees a weeeenter job"

Then he disappears for the winter.

Mark........I just had my aft A/C unit changed last month. The guy came to boat....tested my unit....said it wasn't worth fixing......had a new 7K BTU "turbo" Cruisair unit in 3 days..........it was in my boat the following day. The turbo unit pushes an amazing amount of air.....

Give this guy a call.....maybe he can help:

Mark,
Very HIGHLY recommend. Treated me right when my genny went on the fritz, they installed a fuel filter on it and when it leaked, guy came down right away, dropping everything. Very responsive.

Dave........When was the last time you used Marine Specialists ?

They now want a $135.00 credit card deposit over the phone...........and will NOT make an appointment. They show up next time they are " in the area ".........

WTF is with that ?????????????

I used them about 4 years ago.
They were good then.
Guess they got screwed over a few times, but everyone I know who used them was happy.

I USE TO use them all the time too !!!.....and I never screwed THEM over !!

They should know their customers.

Mark,
Don did it the right way, scrap what you got and get all new, otherwise you will be chasing good money after bad money.

I also feel that Marine Specialists are not what they used to be

You may want to call MTS Power Systems out of Westbury 516.334.6500, they handle both Cruisair & Marine Air- also very good on Gen sets

Thanks guys.

My current guy is MTS. They've done AC units and genset on my old boat and they replaced the fwd unit on this one. They are telling me that the problem is with Cruisair and they are only telling me what they are being told. I just think once anyone tells you that your unit is shot and needs to be replaced, they are not going to go back and tell you that they can now fix it.

I guess I'll give them until the 26th. Just frustrated by the constantly moving date. If they keep delaying, I'll give TB a call.

Thanks

Mark.....TB was honest with his diagnosis on my old unit....he told me he COULD pull and fix my old unit....it would cost me about 70% of what a new unit costs........and only be warranteed for 30 days.....OR..... go for the extra $$$ and get all new..... and a 3 year warrantee.............It was a no brainer.

I always feel better about a service guy........if he leaves the decission making to me.

Plus he was anal with the way he treated my boat.........super clean.

I just had Marine Specialists install a new salon a/c for me this season. I made a phone call on Monday and by Thursday the unit was installed. I did not have to leave a credit card # for an appointment either.

WTF... Gee i remember someone volunteering to check an a/c unit ....

Hummm.. now u wait !!! serves u right !!!!!!

lol kidding ... do u know what model they were selling u ?

Call dons guy...

: )

I have heard Nautical Air in Farmingdale (formerly in Copiague) was good. A friend used them a couple years back. Knowledgeable and will travel. Tel: (516) 586-5244

Spoke with MTS again today. Compressor is shot and they tell me that a repair would be a waste of money since condenser is not far behind. Apparently, Cruisair moves at one speed regardless of the season.

Rob, I appreciated the offer. Not sure what model. Just know that apparently it is larger than the one in my stateroom and there is no stock on it anywhere.

These A/C, Refrig guys, all the same, they are all working Tuesday thru Thursday and boating Friday to Monday. They don't want to be bothered, even though summer time is their season. Maybe we should go back to putting blocks of ice in boat with a fan!

YEa thats RIGHT dave ... and we also BLACK LIST PEOPLE ....

Mark,
if the compressor is shot ... replace the entire unit . A friend just got slammed in the butt by a well known service company. Im shocked at what transpired. A 15 yr old refrig stopped working and the serivce compnay replaced the compressor with out a call to the customer .... WTF.... makes me ill to think someone would take ADVANTAGE to this degree.
