We're back from a little R&R at the lake. A little work and a little doing nothing. Yesterday while drifting in the boat at Lake of the Ozarks by the dam we almost capsized and/or got swamped. Mary was lounging and reading a book at the stern and I was doing the same at the bow. I heard the sound of a big engine going very fast and saw a large Formula Cruiser headi9ng towards our general direction. When it got near us it circled around us and went back up the lake. BUT, the #$^*((&*% did not slow down. I jumped up faster than a scared rabbit, turned the engine on super fast, slammed the engine into gear and turned to face the waves that I estimate at four feet and coming at us from two directions. I owe our lives, or at least a major dunking, to my constant studying boat handling technique from a purloined Internet Coast Guard Coxswain's Boat Handling manual and talking technique on our Boatered forums. Thanks guys and gals and C.G. The experience was extremely violent, but keeping a little forward speed helped us maintain (hah) some degree of control. After we settled down we gave chase to that %$#**# to get his number and report him to the Water Patrol, but we hit more heavy waves that were killing the Admiral's back so we gave up.
We also got to chase a Water Moccasin, but weren't able to catch him to send him off to snake Heaven. We share the swimming area with that snake, but so far the swimmers and snake keep separated by mutual consent. But, if I'm swimming and it gives me the evil eye its going to be history.
