Have a 3227 with stern light mounted just left of transom door. I will be carrying a dink on davits this year for the first time. When dink is up it will cover the light. What options can I use or do for traveling in early evening hours when I might need the stern light.

Thanks

Do you have a railing back there, mount a battery powered rail mount stern light. That is what I did.
Good luck

I can think of two ways off the top of my head. Mount the light on a post high enough to clear the stowed dingy, or mount it on the aft edge of the hardtop (flybridge floor) as long as you don't have any canvas there.

I did what Niles did - bought one of those Cheapo rail mount lights that runs on "D" batteries and stuck it on my transom rail. Works just fine and I can relocate it to the bridge and use it as an anchor light too (damn thing is brighter than my onboard light!) which means no concerns about excessively weakening my batteries while anchored somewhere overnight...

I have a mast for my Radar. I put the running light at the base (at the top of the cabin)or you can mount on the rear bench.

If you go with the clamp on battery operated light route, you may want to look for an LED model. The clamp on that I had ate batteries. I would put two new batteries in at night and by the time morning came the light would almost be out

Remember the stern light is 135 degree beam so if you use an all-round (like I did) just put some black tape on the back part of the lenses. The one I used is LED but after two years I have never had a need to use it so I don't know how battery life is.
