Can anyone tell me how to remove the frame around the am/fm/cd radio in the cabin of my 1996 330 Sundancer ? I have removed every screw on the inside panels, but the front frame won't budge and it's making me crazy !!!

Thanks in advance for any and all help
Paul

If I remember correct.........you need a tool that slides between the radio & the frame to release it.

What make is the stereo ?

If its a Clarion, you might need one of these to remove it.

Where does one get this key as I have plans to replace ours too?

It's a Jensen receiver an I tried the cilps, but that didn't work. What I am really looking to do is remove the wood frame that is around the disc changer and the receiver.I am trying to access it so I can figure out why the disc changer and wired remote don't work. I believe the previous messed it all up when he replaced the receiver.

Thanks again
Paul

Our little SR [see signature] had a POS Audiovox inside a plastic box. I got one of the SH Cassette Stereos Les was closing out awhile ago. When I went to remove the box it simply came out, but if you have all the screws out, my guess is somebody bedded the box with adhesive sealant. Could be time for a putty knife around the edges. I like to think I did a better job installing the replacement than whoever did the original.

Greg,

I'm glad you came to your senses. Replacing the boat because the stereo has problems seemed a bit extreme to me.

man it has been a long time since i did car audio.

i would bet a local car stereo shop would have a few laying around. alot of them are generic. some a skinny rod that is u shaped to hit two releases (top and bottom) on each side of the radio and the other is a flat "key blank". you might be suprised that there would be one in the new radio you buy.

KiDa, our stereo actually works fine, just old and dated.

2 of the 4 helmcockpit speakers never worked. I replaced all 4 and now all 4 work. Looks like they are all wired to each other, at least the same side ones are. If one goes bad the other seems to fail too.

Paul,

If I hear you correctly, you have a Jensen receiver and the factory Clarion changer and wired remote, right? They won't work with anything besides a Clarion C-bus receiver or the remote will sometimes work with CeNet receiver. See other posts. As far as removing the wood trim panel/frame, you have to access the angle brackets holding it in place. Easiest to do by first removing the radio (which you've tried) then you can get to the angle brackets holding the changer. I have had to use a flat head screwdriver in a pinch but it will trash the radio.

If I was to bet, all you need to do is find a used Clarion C-bus radio and your remote and changer will probably work just fine...
