Ok I read my volvo penta manual very carefully for this before asking and it is gray in the matter. Seems like I get different answers from different people so I figure come on here and ask you guys!
When im getting ready to cold start my carbed engine it says to prime the engine by taking the throttle lever and push it down to WOT and back. (this engages the fuel pump primer and allows gas in). The only problem is it does not say how many times to do this.
A boater friend of mine said 3 was a good amount? But I have no assurance thats correct.
So first question is how many times do you push down to WOT to attain a proper amount of fuel in the carbed engine.
Second... do you smoothly go to WOT and back. Or do you go to WOT and wait a second or two then go back?
Third... If the engine is warm lets say you ran for an hour... anchored out for 3 hours then were getting ready to start again... do you do the same procedure as if it was cold? Or do you only prime once or twice??
I have never flooded the engine so just curious about the optimal.
