Just getting home from a few days in Pensacola ... not much of an adventure you say ?? Well try it with 4 adults .. my wife & I, my 2 grown daughters and 2 grandkids ages 5 yrs and 1 yr ... oh yeah .. the boat is a 28' Bayliner. You can't imagine the "stuff" that a crowd like that needs. Actually had a great time .. the weather was perfect .. a little hot, but the Gulf was beautiful ... the kids had a great time. The only hitch was yesterday morning, while leaving the slip I realized that I had NO STEERING!! I had just had hydraulic steering installed at both stations last year, apparantly one of the compression fittings was not compressed properly and gave way. No fluid in system ... fortunately we were still at the marina, a quick shift into reverse and I was close enough to get back into the slip. I was able to contact my mechanic and he came right out and had us underway in less than 2 hours. (No tip required), but I am sure I will be invoiced the correct amount. We had a few great days, the kids adapted to the boat well, I had spent some time over the past few weeks getting the baby used to her life jacket. Boating with kids is great ... we had a "treasure hunt" with the 5 yr old .. complete with buried treasure and a map found in an old bottle ... stories of pirates etc. All in all a great time.
