Hi all. I'm a relative newbie and I'm contemplating changing out the anchor rode on my Searay 260DA. I currently have the original plow anchor that came with the boat as well as the rode which is all anchor line(no chain). The anchor seems to set well in most of the conditions that I anchor in (fresh water lake with sandy to muddy bottom with depths usually 15-30ft). The anchor usually holds as long as I let out the proper scope. However, I'm looking to add some chain to the rode in hopes that I can use a bit less scope for those crowded coves that I typically like to anchor in. My question is around how you secure the anchor in the pulpit with the chain? Is it possible to secure chain to the bow cleat in the same manner that you would the nylon line? If not, how would you secure the anchor. Any help is appreciated.
