Anchorage Slip owners

Got mine, but I rent privately!!!!!

I am curious what is going on there with money as it seems they are collecting it but not spending it.
Billed me for a new finger pier which has not been installed yet!
 
I just signed the papers for C35. New boat is in the works, assuming the survey goes well. Very excited to be there.
 
Thanks. I did walk past a boat with IPS drives; I never really saw them before so they caught my eye.

Gotta be me as I think I am the only IPS boat in AYC. Why does that statement not scare me?
 
Yes, plenty, but it is rare.
There are a some zeus's over at Surfside I am sure.
Gotta remember, IPS is a volvo product and south shore is alot of Sea Rays, so Zeus will be more popular than IPS.
 
I couldn't find any numbers but about a year ago, they claimed to have delivered over 10,000 IPS units and over 4,000 in North America. I think it will be more common place as more new boats are sold.
 
Have to remember the boat market crashed . So yes as time goes on u will see more IPS and alike

Should be anyting different then out drives ? Change the oil and ur good ??

There is a local certified IPS mechanic.
Plan is to have him go over everything this year.
After that, I will do the basics like oil change, filters, etc.
I just want to establish the realtionship in case I have a issue.
The motor is your basic Volvo Diesel obviously.
The IPS drive itself, though seems comples is really very basic and similiar to a outdrive.
I think the more complex stuff is the wiring and computer controls which require calibration but once done are good to go.
Major issues I have heard are the seals around the drives that prevent water into drive.
Older models used brass, newer ones use stainless. I need to find out what I have.
I am still in warranty so that is something else he will do and view all recalls or field mods I may need.

Google IPS Drives and you will find recommended annual maintenance as well as an article on the maint. differences with inboards vs IPS. The BoatTest video is pretty cool as well.
 
Yeah I have, I know more than I need to know.
The maintenance is higher on these things, but I have been shopping around alot and have gotten some good prices on the basics.
Biggest difference between the IPS and Inboards is you need to put synthetic gear lube in drives.
SO between gear lube and filters I would say IPS is about $500 more than Inboards if you use Volvo Parts.
I plan to switch to Sierra parts and lube next year which should get me down to $300.
I always like to use Volvo when in warranty to avoid any questions if a issue happens!
