Anchorage slip???

I have a rental slip at the Anchorage Yacht Club and my boat was damaged while in the slip because it's not padded properly. I need to have my blue hull repainted to the tune of 8k!! Is there anyone I can contact to help me pad the slip so it doesn't happen again this year. Should this be on the owner to pad the slip or is it on me to have done? The problem is the boat hits the finger slip and not the poles because the finger slip sticks out more then the poles. I like the marina and slip location a lot so I would like to return but not if there isn't a solution.
 
I think its on the renter unless you have a nice owner.
I have a colored hull and my boat never hits the pier and I only have about 8" to spare.
You need to tie the boat different.
I ride the pole opposite the pier.
 
I don't mean to pile on but REALLY ? This has to be a joke . Its ur boat. u rented the slip. U tied the lines. If the boat doesn't fit properly in the slip that's on u.

This is what the world has become. SOMEONE else is responsible for my screw up .

Before attach anything to the docks, get written permision from the slip owner, and make sure that permission states if you retain ownership of what you add when you leave.
personally I would not rely on padding on the dock, I woukd use fenders with covers, and as stated above I would adjust my lines so my boat didnt hit the docks.
if you dont know how to adjust lines for the tides, and to keep them off the dock at the same time, lost another topicasking now to do so.
 
Of course the owner isn't responsible for the boat repairs. Your misunderstanding. Insurance covered that. I meant do I have to spend a few hundred bucks to pad the dock or do you think if I asked the owner they would handle it? That's all my question was. Also if you knew someone who would pad the dock for whatever I pay them if it comes down to me paying.
 
If you tie it right you won't need padding.
I have a hard rubber for pier.
Will sell if interested
 
I read it as a question about padding the slip not the damage. I agree it is on the renter but the owner may have a say in what gets attached to his slip or may want to do himself to ensure it is what he wants.

I agree the responses from my friends who own slips there were a bit harsh.
 
How tight is the slip? In my experience even with fenders a blue hull will get some scratches on it. Ideally you don't want the boat touching the finger pier during normal situations and any padding would be to protect you while going in and out. Some sort of padding/fender system would certainly help, but it's still not a perfect solution if the hull will be rubbing on it all the time.

I would try adjusting your lines before going through the trouble and expense of padding a slip you rent.
Maybe add a couple of strategically located fender hanging off of the boat too.
Ask around with your dock neighbors for ideas about how to tie her up.
If you can't get help at the Marina, then just put up a post looking for it here and I'm sure someone can come and give you a hand.
I'm not an expert or anything, but I've never had a problem with my lines anywhere I've gone. If I'm around when you are, I'd be happy to give you a hand.
 
I deleted the offending posts - I agree - they were offensive and contrary to the intent of this forum.
 
Maybe harsh, but to the point. Sometimes a reality check on "responsibility" is in order.Why do most feel that everyone else is responsible for things that happen to them? As far as deleting the post(s) I have no issues with that, hope he saw such and got what he was asking about was more "offensive" than the post deleted. Really, a "padded slip" YGBSM!
 
How big is the slip ur in ? Are u confident u have it tied up correctly for a fixed dock scenario ?

Ok Don, hidden point taken and maybe that was the "offensive" statement. but based on the post, and if I was a betting man, absolutely!
In all fairness to me, your a boater, was I wrong???

Stop by my slip on d dock. Show you how to tie In a tight slip.
I have fabric on finger pier and fabric on outside pole.
Put a fender between boat and pole and ride that pole.
The fabric is costly. If you are gonna stay I would add it then take it with you.
Use screws not nails.

It sure sounds to me like didnt tie right for slope and tide.
Also use 6 ropes if you have 4 poles.
2 on bow criss crossed. 2 aft criss crossed and 2 spring.

Again come see my regal at d60 when season starts.
Will show you how I tie In a tight slip.
 
I'll ask someone for help when I get my boat back from Raybo obviously not Walter. I don't deny the fact that it was my fault for not tying it in properly. Just wanted to know if I wanted to have the slip padded better if it was on my expense as a renter or if the owner might do it.
 
As a owner I never added padding. There was some there. Everyone pads different based on their boat size.
Again pad it yourself.
I have a rubber el for the pier. It's 25 feet long.
Forget what I paid but sure we can find it west marine if your interests in buying it.
But for colored hull I would go with fabric.
