Anchoring at Jones Beach - Advise needed.

This weekend, weather permitting, we're going to anchor off of Jones Beach with friends.
I've been past the inlet but never been in.

Here's our scenario:
Friday afternoon, take off from Piermont and land in Jones Beach.
Saturday, meet up with our friends and raft up close to the concert area (they're going to dinghy in the 'kids' to the concert).

Any special considerations for that area? I know it might be shallow in some spots (but I boat in Piermont where most boaters fear to tread ).

Can someone tell me where in Zach's Bay is the best place to Anchor and where should you not go based on the depth ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Plan on visiting this weekend.

If you do a search in google earth.com you will get a bird's eye view of how shallow it is to get in to Zach's Bay. While entering Zach's Bay, stay away from the post....we almost ran aground when we went in during Memorial day weekend and anchored almost in the center where it was 9-10 feet.

Thanks Tom & Lisa for your advice. I ventured in to Zach's Bay during high tide recently and proceeded very cautiously keeping the pole to my port and the land to my right. I'm sure it gets trickier with low tide if it is even worth it. After entering the bay I didn't feel comfortable venturing to far in without hearing from more people with knowledge of the bay.
