Headed out to Nantucket this Saturday, 8/2. Has anybody anchored there? We are not sure of our arrival day or time and don't want to reserve a mooring. Plus we prefer anchoring.... How is the ground? What type of anchor(s), We have delta anchors with 60' of chain that has never failed us on our 36' Regal. We have not been there in a few yrs, any changes? Well, except the obvious of the 70' boat Pascal delivered.

That's my 70 footer and I hope you'll come by if you are around next weekend.

As to anchoring, when you pass Brandt Point look to your left and you will see several boats anchored. Probably starting with a big navy blue hulled sailboat called "Avalon". That is the preferred anchorage. It's just as well that you prefer anchoring. I heard this morning that the mooring field is completely filled and the Boat Basin is close to full now and will certainly be full this weekend through the 18th for Race Week.

All the best,

I think our plans have changed. Nancy: Thanks for the Race week tip.
I think we gonna bop around Cuttyhunk, Woods Hole, Edgartown and finally Oak bluffs at the end of the week for the Tuna tourney. If we end up in tucket we will surely stop by. Thanks again.
