Trying to get a "ballpark" on what annual costs I should set aside to maintain, repair, insure and fuel costs to operate a 40 foot used yacht. Lets assume the following:
purchase price is 150K-200K in good to very good condition with no cosmetic work required; Meridian, Silverton, or Carver brands
yacht is 7 years old with twin inboards (gas or deisel)
I will use the yacht 25% of the year (mostly in the summer months) in salt water California (average annual miles used say 5000 or 700 hours).
I have no mechanics abilities
Again ballpark or range is what I'm looking for, I realize there are lots of variables. Also at what age should I expect a complete refurbishment and what will this cost? 50% of original purchase price, 100%?
