Any frequent Aboco cruisers have realistic mileage and costs based on their experiences.

Planning a two week trip to the Abacos and trying to estimate my fuel costs and over-all costs for the trip. I consume 1 mile per gallon at 27 mph cruise and at hull speed. We plan to stay in marinas 6 of the nights - the rest on the hook with AC/genny runing as needed.

Itinerary is:
Day 1 shhot Hillsboro inlet to West End
Day 2 West End to Spanish
Day 3-8 Spanish to Great Guana - hang out dive and snorkel withsome small day trips
Day 9 Guana back to Spanish or Turtle
Day 10 West End
Day 11 West End to Hillsboro

Over-all miles?
Any idea what fuel costs in the Abacos these days (gas)?

Last December I filled up at Marsh Harbour to the tune of $4.17 p/ gal.

TRIP CANCELLED

Well looks like the Footloose crew is staying state-side this year...bit dissappointed since I love the adventure of cruising 200 miles away but after lots of debate and web site searching we just can't justify the Abaco trip. Our kids are older now and have jobs - they cant pull two weeks, one is engaged which adds a person to the crew and the boat doesnt sleep 6 well (5 okay), so we would need to rent a house or hotel rooms $$$$$$$$. Also you add the extra $2/gallon to the already rediculous prices, flights for the kids to blast in and out, add $350 to enter the Bahamas, double the cost of food, water, ice, marina fees and it really seems like the Bahamians don't want us non-millionaires to visit.

So we will be cruising the Keys and renting a house for a week all for half the price
