Does anyone know of any canvas shops on the Northern Bay, preferabbly in Delaware or Eastern shore Maryland - north of the bay bridge, that do decent work? So far I've come up empty on google.

Nothing extravagent, I've got a 23 foot bowrider, that I need some type of canvas top for, that can be up while I'm underway. All I have now is a tiny bimini, that attachs to the windshield, and is not very useful. I'm looking for something that does not attach to the windshield, and shades most of the cockpit.

thanks

Alk,

There are plenty of good canvas shops from the Bay Bridge and northern locations. I deal with Oatley's Top Shop in Galena, MD. There are other ones around, just get the latest issure of Nor'easter or The Mariner and look at the ads.

Maybe not quite in the location you are looking at, but I've been quite pleased with Lighthouse Canvas on the east side of Baltimore, just off the beltway.

I recommend Bud at Sassafras Canvas. He's in Cecilton and his shop is behind his home. Does excellent work at a fair price but like so many other canvas guys he's busy and sometimes slow on the delivery. Your job should be small enough for him to knock out quickly though. Call Bud at 410-275-8103.

Thanks for your help everyone - but it turns out while I was looking for a shop near where I boat, I never bothered to look for a shop near where I live ( and keep the boat). Satuday afternoon one of my friends, who keeps his Rinker at Skipjack Cove, called. He was in my neighborhood, dropping off some canvas at his canvas guy's shop, which is out of the guys home, within walking distance of my house.

There's also a guy out of NJ that does work at Summit North (card up on the board). He was right on time, awesome job, great price. Even added some telescoping poles for my cockpit cover without charging extra for them. Never had that happen before. He really should have charged for them.
