We heading out of Great Oak and thought about Pleasure Cove for a day or two. Can anyone lend any local knowledge? Nice place? Anything around the area? good stop during the week?
Thanks for any help.
Keith

The Chesire crab is supposed to be a good place to eat although I have never been there. I did visit the marina this winter when I was thinking of moving and it really is not near anything. At least not that I can tell. Mostly just residential neighborhoods.

I keep my boat not far from Pleasure Cove. Nothing is close to that place (nice marina, don't get me wrong). Cheshire is fine, but nothing special. John is right that it's almost totally a residential area. If you have a car it's fine as there's plenty of stores, restaurants, etc. about 10 minutes away, but you're not going to walk it.

What are you looking to do, Keith? You'll probably head to my area and I'll probably head to yours this weekend :-)

Haven't been there in a few years, but it has been a decent one- (or two) night-stop in the past. Restaurant was OK, pool was OK, folks were pleasant, decent (bi-furcated) creek to explore by dinghy... Not much else around, although you can take a nice walk through the residential areas once you get down the access road. Might be something reachable by bicycle, but we didn't have bikes with us the last time.

Appreciate everyone's feedback.
Mix,
This weekend we have a wedding so won't be at G.O. We will be there the following weekend though. Not really sure what were looking to do. Just wanted to try different places. Hope we get to meet this summer.

Thanks John/Chris. May be a little too laid back for us. We're not crazy but not boring either :). Well, our kids think we are.

You can always come a little further up to Lighthouse Point. Tiki Bar, Restruarant, Pool with bar service, and floating docks. And the water taxi to downtown B'More.

Sure thing, Keith, we can keep in touch. We've got plans to spend the following weekend in Solomons, but we'll be back to Fairlee in the coming weeks as it's a pretty close anchorage for us to get to.

There's also Kent Island as well. We spent last weekend at Castle Harbor for the pool and the great Asian restaurant just outside of the marina. But you could go to Mears in the Narrows for more excitement.

we have done the Kent Narrows trip. Hit the Jetty, Big Owls, Red Eyes. Been to Baltimore, Annapolis etc. but that's about it. Plenty out there to explore.

Oxford. St. Michael's. Solomons. Hyatt in Cambridge is down to $1.50/ft from what I hear.

I think that's the Hyatt's seasonal (annual) teaser rate they used in one of their relatively recent ad campaigns... not sure, though; we haven't been there this year, yet.

They're still doing the "stay 2 get a 3rd night free" thing during the week, and that ends up being relatively economical.

No problem, Bill. I've been pre-occupied at the office with some IT issues that basically had us shut down for a number of days. Back up now, thankfully.

We just stayed at the Hyatt for 6 nights and were on the floating docks and it was still $1.50 p/f per day. We also got the stay 2 nights get the 3rd free. So we paid for 4 got 2 free. The do however charge $25.00 per day resort fee on top of the normal rates. All in all, still a great deal!

So for a 45 foot boat then it is really $2/ft. Unless you stay three days, then it is $1.65/ft per day.

Well we skipped pleasure cove. We took the advice of going to Knapp's Narrows. Nice, quaint stop. We were there for two nights. Places closed up early and no outside music at the tiki bar due to a local ordinance. But, as usual, met great people, had good food and drinks. Had a good meal at Harrison's. Recommended for a two day, quiet stop. Thanks to all for the advice.
