We just purchased a 2007 Legacy 32, and ran the boat home to Old Saybrook, CT from Marblehead MA on November 9th. Great boat, well built. Tartan Yachts in Ohio re-introduced this model at the Newport Boat show in September.

I was hoping there might be an owner or two on the board. I am used to the depth of resources in the Silverton Owners Club, and I am coming up empty on the Legacy.

Can't wait for spring!

There is a RO on here with the name of "Ductboy", he has a Legacy around the same vintage. I think it is a 34' ??
He is out of Rhode Island.
His name is Dan and he is a very nice guy, I am sure he will respond to a PM.

jhc109,

Is Endorphin your boat? If so it is beautiful.
I do have some questions:

jhc109,

Is Endorphin your boat? If so it is beautiful. This boat was in Marblehead MA, and I was able to negotiate a very favorable price.
I do have some questions:
- Built in coffee maker - do you have a filter on that water line?
- Do you have dockside water, and if so was it factory installed, as mine doesn't, but was thinking of installing a regulator?
- What size and how many blades on your prop? Mine is 4 blade, need to pull the prop to get size. Got some resonance on the trip home and wondering if it is cavitation.
- Do you typically run with full tabs, coming from a bridge boat the bow rides high?
- Have the QSB 5.9 - 425 HP with 500 hours, cruised pretty well at 2600 RPM, making 16.5 +/- knots. What are you running at?
- was thinking of installing a stern thruster, do you have one and do you use it. Boat seems to want to walk to starboard. An adjustment for me going from a twin screw boat.
- This boat has the sea chest, another we looked at had removed the sea chest, and plumbed raw water directly. Any opinions?

Things you love, things you hate, and any general insight.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike.........yes indeed.....EndorFin is my boat. To answer your questions:
I do not use the coffee maker. It,s not a great coffee maker and there is no filter. I have a Keurig.
I do not have dockside water
I have a 4 blade prop and have never had any issues
Bridge does run high so I do use almost full tabs.....depends on sea state
I have the same engine and run about the same.....a bit faster with a clean hull in the spring and early summer
Yes, I have a bow and stern thruster and love the stern thruster. Makes life so much easier
I have the sea chest and have had no problems. I like it

I really love the boat. It just got a bit small for us so I am selling it. Excellent quality, durable, and low maintainence.
It's great in rough seas, gph is reasonable, and easy to maneuver.
If you know anyone who is in the market for one, I am about to lower the price on mine !!

JHC,
Thanks for the reply.
I do have another question, do you have the prop size as shipped from the factory? Also, if you would be willing to share it, I would love a copy of your build sheet or any other factory build documentation, I go manuals for many of the systems, but I would love to know the make of other key system components. Like the sump box, the PSS dripless model, etc. I would reimburse for any costs to copy and mail.

I am trying not to get buyers remorse hearing that you are dropping your price, 2 years newer and less hours would have been nice.

Someone will get a great boat, nice, soft ride, quality build, and classic good looks! Should be an unbeatable combination, this boat is head and shoulders above a Back Cove, and would give all the other guys a run for the money.

About 15 years ago, I had the privilege of crewing on a 42 Legacy from Savanna, GA, up the ICW to the Chesapeake - - It was a great ride on a great boat! Beautifully appointed (it had a crab inlayed in the teak floor) with fantastic fit 'n finish.

Bob,
That boat is gorgeous, newer and about 200 less hours and more highly optioned than mine is, and I paid substantially less money, or I would not have been able to own one.
What you are looking at is the combo charger/inverter. This builder used all high end components for the build.
I believe Endorphin was the last boat built by Freedom Yachts under the Legacy name. The same vessel is currently being built by Tartan Yachts in Ohio. To buy my boat new would cost $475K, with the same level of options and finish.

Now I need to sell my 2005 Silverton 34C!

Mike

Yes, mine was a 2001 34' model. I think that John (JHC) can comment much better than I as his boat is of the later vintage and more similar to the model in question.

Sometime around 2004/2005 the owners of Legacy Yachts implemented some really needed quality improvements. They hired some new project managers that had more knowledge of production. During this period there were some really significant improve to in the boats electrical and water systems, and some nice improvement to the boats finishes like gelcoating the underside of hatches.

All of the Legacy Yachts that I had owned (2) or have seen, had a very limited gelcoating life and benefited greatly from a good Awlgrip job.

We looked at a 2005 34 Legacy, it had significant crazing in a bunch of areas of the topside gelcoat, the hatches and bilges had improved finishes, but the 32 took that up a couple of notches further. We got close to pulling the trigger on the 34 but then looked at the 32 and loved it. Only trade-off is handling a single screw boat vs, twins, but I guess I will get used to it.
Happy New year!
Mike

I had my boat painted by All Paint in Bristol. They did a great job, but had to spend a lot of extra time filling and fairing the hull due to the poor condition of the gelcoat.

My boat had twin 350 Yanmars (same as my current boat), but in the legacy, I would prefer a single engine with bow thruster (and maybe a stern thruster for fun).

The hull design for the 34 is owned by the designer and still produced by Bruckmann (along with the 40 Hull). I'm not sure if Mark Ellis designed the 32 or if Tartan owns the rights to that hull outright. I see where they are planning on buildings 36' model.

Mark Ellis owns the hull design for the 32. Tartan building on a license from Ellis. I believe the 36 is going to be a Joint Mark Ellis and Tarton design, I know it has three configurations with 2 Galley up and 1 galley down, a option 2nd stateroom in one of the galley up configurations. It is going to be single screw with a Cummins QSB 6.7 480 hp.
I am having a stern thruster installed during our lay-up, New England Bow Thruster is doing the work.
Another thing I saw on the new 32, is they used a drop-in freezer unit where we have a cooler box, going to see how we use the boat and may consider it.
Can't wait for our first season, making it our own.

Lovely boat. Very similar in looks to a Sabre. 32' with a single diesel is just a nice combination. Love my Albin 32, though it has not been used in recent years. I plan to keep it & do a major restoration job. Haul the engine out, replace hoses, engine compartment paint, the works.
