Man it's ugly this year! Unless you have a sporty that can run 25k you'll be waiting like a mess of us are.

Looking at Passageweather.com and other sites, it looks like you will be where you are for a while.

But, like we've said a few times, that's not a fate worse than death either. :)

Hope you get a window soon.

Bob

Yes. We have a good spot here and that makes it all that much easier. The tough part is avoiding the appy's at the restaurant :D

LOL, they serve a pretty mean fish sandwich too. :)

Still no end of the waiting in sight. Good thing we have a monthly rate here....

Here are a couple of pictures I took last week while we were weathered in at Long Island just to remind you of what you have to look forward to once you get across. :-)

Looks good! We're getting a bit testy with all this waiting. But at least details on the boat are getting taken care of. At this rate I won't have much to do once we are over there! At least I hope so.

Aw Bill - love those pictures. But you're making me insanely jealous.

Still stuck? Today was probably a good day to cross, it was too light to sail in miami!

We rock and with that, we sit. It gets worse tonite making the bank an ordeal as well. So instead of being stuck at W.E. we'll hang a while longer. I was thinking next week this time but that seems to be fizzling out already.
I believe a gang crossed last week when it was supposed to be good. They slammed quite a bit of the way. Yesterday was probably a reasonable day to go but was borderline for us.
Good thing we don't have to be there until March.

Dan, you're on your boat in the sun. I'm at my desk in the cold.

Who do you think is happier?

Knowing the kind of weather you guys are looking for it looks like the 7th and 8th may be your next possible window.

Right now looks good but it seems to deteriorate this afternoon and get progressively crappy for the next few days after that.

Where you are isn't such a bad place. Heck it's better than even here. Windy and cold here, especially inland, so I may postpone my river trip. 40's at night in the wind is not fun to me. It's warm enough inside the boat but who the heck wants to sit inside all night?

I have to go to Ft. Lauderdale next week. I hope you guys aren't still stuck there but if you are beer and lunch is on me.

Mike I'll swap your salary for our pensions, but I hear ya!

Bob we may be at Las Olas then. The way the models look we may be able to scoot around the worst of it and go North along the bank.

However there is nothing on WxWorx as there was last year at this time...

yesterday all day Fowey Rocks showed winds under 5 kts until 7pm, when it jumped to 16 then 20kts. Over the past couple of weeks, i've seen mentions of rougher seas off Palm Beach county, maybe you should cross further south! as you know at this time, windows are short between fronts

Yeah, we are just about at that point. We may move to Las Olas soon. Today we talked about Miami to Bimini and then the canal to the Abacos. There is talk of the Santa Ana winds making their way East soon. Damn ugly!

Dan, good luck with the crossing, hopefully you'll get a window soon! I enjoyed reading your blog last winter and hope to see some new Bahamas pics on it again soon :)

John

It s gone up to 25kts here tonight and doesn't look like it s going come down for the next few days... Windows are awfully small so far this year!

Pascal you've got that right! The Wednesday window just about slammed shut. Even though it's forecast to be 2-3 that is the significant height, and we all know there are plenty of others lurking out there to rattle the cage. Eight hours at 12 feet above the water in that is a drain and we have too much stuff on the boat that can fly around so we are being conservative. Others that have crossed have radioed back to wait until daylight so you can see the waves and thus be "ready for it". Those are the good days.
John thanks for the feed back, and we're glad you enjoy it!

If the southbound boat traffic through here is any indication, you might want to get to your ideal marina and get a slip quickly. Lots of boats headed south and very few windows to cross = full marinas.
