Anyone installed a Raw Water Exhaust Alarm?

We finally fixed the problem (I hope) of starboard overheating on my 1993 330 Mariner (Crusader 350). The main culprit was the bottom strainer which was really clogged, and it was also of poor design with its screws going into the bilge. I have since replaced with a better strainer, and filled the screw holes, and it seems to be running well. It was suggested to install a Borel Raw Water Exhaust Alarm. Has anyone installed one? If so, does it work well and how tough was it to install? Seems like putting the sensor in the hose is simple enough, but how difficult is it to run the wires to the helm in the Mariner? I just purchased the boat last year and haven't run any wires, though would also like to add the fuel management system to connect to my Northstar 567.

On another, but similar topic on the overheating, I also had a problem with the seawater hose losing its prime, which was probably because of the restricted flow, but the starboard seawater hose going to the pump runs above the water line. I know the pump is self priming, but port runs below the water line, so has me wondering which is the correct way.

Appreciate any input on these items.

Thanks,
Stu
