I didn't authorize work to the extent that the mechanics saw fit to make on my boat, they were supposed to simply inspect and preserve my engines which should have cost between 1 and 2 thousand, instead they hauled out the motors and now want thousands, maybe more than the boat is worth and they won't release the boat until the bill is paid, they probably thought the insurance company would pay for it, but the Sandy storm didn't really touch them. I think a good lawyer is needed here, huh? Anybody know of a good one?
 
When I lost my nuts I used a customer of Walter's who is also a boater.
He fully understood the situation and where my head was at.
Great guy, got me what I wanted and kept his costs low!
Only issue is he is in NJ.

Pat, Is this the same marine mechanic who had worked on your boat for several years and seems that the same work has been repeated a few times ? I recall the heads being replaced then again a couple years later and one side even sooner.

Also, how many freaking manifold and risers jobs should a boat need. I thought that was about every 7 years.

Didn’t the boat fail a few surveys while you were trying to sell the boat, even after your mechanic went through the boat and also after a head replacement ? How does a head that is brand new lose compression. How many potentials sales have you lost because of your mechanic ?

And now they pulled your engines without written authorization and the insurance co is dragging to do the engine survey. You may be stuck with an unusable boat during the prime time to sell the boat.

I know you have kept a good record keeping system and have the repair bills to show all the repeated work. I think you may have a case here.
 
His name is Rich Roy, he is a BE member, I forget his name her on the forum, 4 Rs ? Anyway, I don't believe he is licensed to practice law in NY. The name of his law firm is Comegno Law Group, Moorestown NJ, google for their number.
Rich is a great guy and a boater like us all. I would have a chat with him just to see if you have anything worth pursuing. Rich is a very straight forward, no BS guy, IMHO, a go to guy for an opinion.

I may have worded it wrong, but if Pat is using the same yard that Brad is using, he needs a lawsuit or worse. It sucks when nice people are ****ed over by a predator scum bag like the guy I think they are talking about.

Probably can't afford what she charges for a 'legal job'. Bet she's a great negotiator, tho.
 
Wow, I'd hire that for what ever! Ha! No, Brad and I are in different marinas altogether, I think, and I will check with my insurance agent, that the insurance grant can be protested also. In the meantime I would like to negociate with the garage and maybe if I could get that babe to do it I would come out smelling like a rose!
