Wow....Great weather yesterday. ... Finally. Light chop and great day on the upper Ches Bay. Went up to the Chesapeake Inn and Marina, and it was packed.

Anyone else out yesterday?

Went out today, had a beautiful run on the Bay and then went into Herrington South, tied up for lunch and enjoyed the day until the clouds started building. We got back into HHN just before the showers started. A lot of power boaters missed a great weekend on the Bay. We saw a lot of sailboats going in and out of both marinas. It seemed quiet at both HHN and HHS.

We spent the whole weekend on the Magothy River. Anchored near Gibson Island Saturday night. I am always amazed that most people don't start boating until Memorial Day.

I spent the weekend under the boat, brush and roller in hand. No chop there.

Spent both sat and sun on the south river and poked out in the bay a little. [:-bouncy]

Went from Kent narrows on Friday to Chesapeake Beach resort and spa. Had great weather the whole time. Went fairly slow returning yesterday because the weather and conditions on the bay were so good.

Cant beat that place, 1.90ft includes water and electric. Just a little skinny getting in and out. If over 4ft draft you can not go in at low tide. People are extremely friendly and helpful. Definately on my return list...

Opened with Dobbins Island, staid on the hook there for two nights. Ride over on friday was very nice and smooth back on sunday was a little rough crossing the Bay against the wind.

Thursday will be heading up to Fairlee to watch the mayhem of opening boating season on the Chesapeake ... the cut at Jellyfish had already drastically changed at the end of last season ... surely to see many boats hitting the sand this coming weekend ....

Dom,,shoot a report on that inlet after you are there. I have the boat club going there in mid June for a couple nights. Appreciate any info.

Hey Dusty, when are you coming up to Still Pond?

Left Kent Narrows around 3PM on Saturday, ran over to Annapolis (very little boat traffic out in the Bay). All harbor mooring balls were taken so waited for Spa Creek bridge to open and found a mooring ball further up the creek. Real nice overnite stay (except for May bugs made mess in and outside of boat. Returned around noon on Sunday, some chop in Bay but again very few boats in the Bay. I guess boating in MD starts May long-weekend and ends September long weekend!

The bay on Saturday was as flat as I've ever seen, with perfect weather; planned on going down to Fairlee, but overheated right in front of Still Pond, so headed in there instead. Not sure if I didn't put it on tight enough, or if it's damaged, but appears the cap of my coolant resevoir blew right off. Pretty easy fix as far as breakdowns go. Didn't make it out Sunday though, had to flush the baywater out of my cooling system, and some other work. Usually try to get out 4-5 times before Memorial Day; didn't quite pull it off this year.

Big Bliss -

What were the changes to the cut?

Thanks.

just the way the beach and sandbar goes opposite of Jellyfish has changed. You used to be able to pull up to the beach real close as it dropped off so much, now it is all shallow. you have to get closer to the Jellyfish side, the sandbar reaches further into the channel. I will post either Friday or Saturday how it looks this year.

Was out Saturday on a friends boat, and it was gorgeous out (on top of the fact it wasn't my gas being burned).

Sunday wasnt nearly as nice. Was actually taking spray over the cabin, and into my face in the cockpit, running up the Bohemia. Would have been a miserable trip in the Bayliner, but the Marinette ("McKenna Renee") took it like a champ. Smooth ride, ableit a little wet....

Running to the Inn Friday night, and wandering around the upper bay for the rest of the holiday weekend...

rode up last night, beautiful sunset on the way up and calm but a nice breezy night at Fairlee.

Most of the beach across from Jellyfish has eroded and looks like ended up in the cut. There is now a red marker in the middle of the cut. You have to get around and go between marker and Jellyfish NOT between marker and the beach across from Jellyfish. It is narrow, no room for two boats, especially not when the tide is ripping.

Will be entertaining this weekend for sure ... sorry guys I easily have a ten beer head start for the weekend already ....

I was out at six this morning going from the Bohemia up to Chesapeake City. Beautiful. Never had it so smooth. I need to start getting up earlier. My college room-mate who circumnavigated the globe is staying with me while he works on his Cat on the hard in Georgetown, he gets up early.

Thanks Dom,,I talked to Donnie the Dock Mast. at Fairlee, and he said it didn't change, but I have a few big sailbotes, I will observe before I give it a shot. Couple yrs ago, I did a 360 there in the wind and current before I got in,,but did get a #9 from some guy judging on the shore.
