Does anyone have any suggestions on anything besides bleach to your tank ? our city water tastes awful and of course, its a holding tank altho we do change the water very often. I would just like to brush my teeth with better tasting water! We do bring drinking water on board.

Thanks for any advice!

I brush with bottled water brought onboard. Would have to be desperate to brush with boat's water!

vinegar does almost as well and doesn't taste nearly as bad as bleach.

i water from my 37 year old fiberglass tanks for everything... incl. drinking and ice maker. i got tired of lugging gallons of spring water down the dock :-)

the only thing i dont use tank water for is... topping off the batteries !

this sounds a little weird doens' it? :-)

seriously, city of miami water doesn't taste bad, has a little chlorine in which seems to keep the tank clean and i refill the 250gals every 5 days or so keeping a fresh supply.

If your tank has been sterilized and safe to drink but just does not taste good, then try and add a inexpensive water filter. I bought a inexpensive unit from lowes that excepts a charcoal type filter that I change out every now and then. I mounted it in the bilge and it filters the water for all the faucets. There is also some of that stuff I think called sweet water that can be added to each fill of your tank that helps with the off taste. I also got tired of lugging water to the boat, I would rather lug a case of beer.
