Every summer I have relatives ( in laws) that we invite to spend a weekend on board with us.

As we've added two family members since my boat was last in the water, it's going to be near impossible for nine people to sleep on board. They really like to go camping - so If we could find somewhere on the upper bay, where I could anchor out, and dingy in ( a pier or bulkhead to tie up to would be even better) and they could set up tents on land nearby, I'd be all set. Any suggestions? Almost forgot to mention, my brother in law isn't going to be happy if he can't have a campfire, even if it's the middle of August. Hope this doesn't limit where they can camp.

I posted this two years ago, got some great replies, which seem to be gone, and now I'm looking to do the same thing again this summer. Sorry for asking the same question twice. thanks.

The way things are going with the house build at Still Pond our land there looks like it will stay undeveloped for a while longer... but you'll have to chop your way through the wild grapes and explain yourself to the neighbors. ;)

Calvert Marina in Solomons allows camping on the area near the pool. You can tie up at a slip and the rest can pitch a tent close to the showers and pool. There is a restaurant on site as well. If you want to anchor off you can go to the east side of the peninsular just off a small beach where there is aboout a 200yard walk up to the pool.
Another really nice spot is St Mary's Yachting Center just off the Lower Potomac. I used to have a slip there and it is a great spot. You can anchor off in a very protected creek or get a slip.

Lots of people beach and camp on Pleasure Island as well (Island just south of Hart Miller)
