Applying wax over a cleaner wax

How long has the cleaner wax been on?
Even if it's been on only for a short while I don't see a problem with it. In fact I think you get better protection if you wax after using a cleaner or polishing wax.

You'll be fine as long as you keep in mind the difference between wax and polymer (erroneously referred to as 'wax'). Wax can go onto polymer with no problem, but polymer over a wax MIGHT present an adherence problem.

That is my routine. I use a cleaner wax and my second coat is regular wax. I find the cleaner wax is not enough for a good coating.
No problem at all as long as it's a wax you are applying and not a sealant.
Cleaner was is wax, usually with a solvent in it. The solvent cleans the surface, and the wax portion leaves behind some protection.
It's a quick alternative to polishing the surface, and then waxing. The results won't be as good with the cleaner wax as they would be with the two step process. But they are fine if the surface is in good shape to start.
Topping it with wax is no problem at all.

Althought the boat looks fine, it has some swirlie appearance and it was pretty oxidized before I used the cleaner wax, I just don't want to wax mid season. I used the 3m cleaner wax and now I want to go over it with Collinite 885 paste. I have two boats to do and its to much work!
"pretty oxidized" been there, I fought it for years, polishes, light compounding, waxes, finally threw in the towel last fall. Read every article, watched you tube, asked for advice. . . . Finally washed the boat, Bought the sandpaper ( 3 different grit), got a bucket of soapy water turned the stereo up and went after it.
Sanded that fiberglass till I was too sore to move. Went after it the next day with my Harbor Freight variable speed wheel and some 3M polish / wax and called it a deep shine boat. Added a topcoat of polymer polish for good measure and called it a day.
And on a similar note, I'd like to add that although it doesn't last more than a month, Woody Wax is the **** for non skid areas like the swim deck. Spray a mist on the surface, mop it around with a dab of water added, let er sit 30 minutes and hose it off.
Shines, resists dirt and stains and gives the deck a non slippery feel. G00D stuff, and too easy.

I think it's a little bit of both. Just by touch there is a significant difference after the second application of standard wax. Some may not agree but I have always had great results with "Mothers". Plus it smells great.
This year I'm having the hull wet sanded and waxed by a professional so it will be his blood, sweat and tears.
