At what age did you own your first boat? I was 14, I helped my grand-daugther build her's at 5 years old. She's close at 6 to being able to go out solo, but within sight.
Age restrictions in most states make it more difficult, for young boaters. Many still allow operation with small hp motors or sail or paddles.
