Was that the boat with the $249K asking price and wood plank look sides?

Hi Rommer.

We were there, but it was later than expected, like 6PM. Sorry!

I thought that boat was cool from the outside, but after getting on board, I did not like it. It did have the longest line to see it, though!

THAT may have been the biggest surprise of the day. Me and the boys all estimated that the price was going to be well into the $400K-$500K range.

Yes it was that boat. The asking price was $220k on Friday. I spent a few minutes with the owner and had a serious conversation about the price. The boat was a Marine Trader, I have looked at some used ones almost all of them had to have their fuel tanks cut out and replaced. They used to use steel for their tanks. I was told the newer ones were Aluminum. But I couldn't confirm it because the boat was too busy with people waiting in line and all over it.

Bob the 2 Meridians also had long lines on Saturday. I got on the 47 Friday and I wasn't impressed for the $700k asking price. I didn't like all the up and down stairs in the layout. Your right the interior of the Trawler was so-so but I would have changed all the electronics and had it carpeted if I were ever to go for one. It would also get a hardtop as well, but that's just me. Bill

I have to agree with Bob on this one. While I found the hull to be extremely solid the interior of the boat lacked any sort of quality. Unable to inspect the engine room area completely I can't comment on that but the use of a single Todd plastic chair at the bridge helm and non-waterproof gauges didn't score any points with me. I liked the large opening windows with screens.

But the wife couldn't find a single TV anywhere!

How'd you like the plexiglass floor over top of the engine room?

No real electronics on the Trawler but that is what I would want anyway. Our comments pretty much match yours Rommer we would have to re-work the interior but at the price they were sellinhg it for we would have the funds to install all the toys and better furniture and as I said carpet. Instead I am eventually going to re-power my current boat with Diesels. I'll have a better idea around April 15th what I can and can not do moving forward this year. Bill

Being a larger person it made me feel a little nervous when I stepped on it but that's just for show anyway.

...I would have the new Trawler. I was suprised it looked pretty darn good for a Chineese made boat. Dave Miller Marine had the boat imported....Bill

You have just nailed a large part of the problem with our economy.

Next boat is going to be a luxurious (to me) hull speeder.

Billy,
I would like to see the boat, maybe I can find it online? What was the brand of the boat and the full name of the company selling it?

Walter it is called the Marine Trader 36 Euro Sedan. The brochure says Marine Trader Trawler Yachts Toms River, N.J. I will do a quick search Walter.

Several of the guys from the board stopped by to say Hi while I was at the Show from Wed to Fri. Among them were Billy III and Delaware Jim, plus 4 or 5 others. I think it was the biggest turnout from BoaterEd I've ever had at a show. It was good to see everyone! It's always nice to be able to associate a face with a name! I understand Bob Louderback was there on Saturday, but I wasn't - so Bob, sorry I missed you. I find it pretty amazing how many friendships began with guys who had been total strangers posting on BoaterEd, and the chemistry that resulted from their mutual interests.

The show was smaller than in previous years but there was still a pretty good public turnout - much better than I'd expected. And there will be several more Marine Elegance toilets out in the field, as a direct result of the Show. One fellow drove all the way up from Virginia just to see one in person. So for me at least, it was a pretty good show.
