Babylon Village Dockage Questions

After trailering for a few years I would like to get dockage for my 20'Grady White in either Babylon or Islip. I am a Babylon village resident and my partner in the boat is a town of Islip resident.(We can register it in either town) I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations or could fill me in on the details such as the cost and the best way to get one of these slips or what I can expect to pay if I need to go to a private marina.
Any information is greatly appreciated.

for TOI there is a registration process and a waiting list which depends on the size and location you prefer.
 
A couple members of the LIYC are Babylon village residents and are on a waiting list, but have declined a slip when their turn came because they love the club. They tell me that there is a couple year if not more of a wait for the village docks. But when they decline a slip they are not bumped back, just have to wait until the next season.

I am Islip resident and checked out the marina behind the Islip golf course, I think it is Timber Point, you can see it across from the Snapper Inn. I spoke to some boaters and they laughed when I asked about the wait list. Said it was 10 years, I may have had a BS line, but I did not bother to check it out officially. Also checked out Bay Shore and also had a long wait.

It is probably not a bad idea to get on some list to keep options open.
 
I just emailed our marina manager at Surfside 3 in Lindenhurst and his response is:

"As for dockage for a 20’ grady, I do have a slip the cost would be $118 per foot and at this point I would prorate it. You can have them give me a call at 631-957-5900 ext 220 - Capt. Mike"

Thanks to all for your responses so far. Now that I have picked myself up off the floor and regained my breath it sounds like I better get on a list for the future! I had no idea it was that difficult or expensive. Now, just to clarify I have a real newbie question; the $118/ft, is that for the length or the beam? And if it is the length I imagine it is the actual total length, not the listed length, as the motor on this boat is out on a bracket adding a few feet. If it is the length that is extremely expensive and trailering is looking not quite as bad.

I ask the above because I just called Babylon Village and while they said yes there is a waiting list the lady said it was only $35/ft measuring only the beam but I think she may have been mistaken. (Or if she said berth, would that imply length?) Anyone know for sure?
 
TOI measures by length not beam. fwiw, i waited 7 years for any TOI slip and another 2 for a good one.
i believe timber point is a suffolk county marina, not to be confused with TOI or TOB. suffolk county marinas seem to have a longer waiting list that the town marinias.
 
I've been on the Islip list since I got the boat(2005) I've come up twice for the Bayshore Marina.The slip was I think about $20 per foot. The reason I didn't go for it was that I had called the Islip parks dept and inquired as to wether I was still on the list and how far down I was and I got a snotty answer that they couldn't say. The next month I got the letter saying I could have a slip if I paid it in full by the next week.I didn't have $800 in my pocket so I guess I still have to trailer it.
 
Town of islip slips are $47 a foot this year. I waited 6 years for mine, And got the 5 minute warning that the slip was available.
But the town slip is the only way I can afford to put the boat in the water.
 
Ooooops I guess I wasn't paying attention to my math. 21ft x $47 =$987. I thought I was low on the per foot but anyway I didn't have $800+ with a week to get it.
 
I am a Village of Babylon resident and they charge for the width of the slip only. I moved to a 1 foot wider slip for only $35 more. The rates are VERY resonable as you can see.
Getting into the slip is more difficult as when it became available to me a few years ago it was in late April early May and I just agreed to an expensive marina slip, so that year I had 2 slips.
But it was worth it.
