How can I release the brakes so they are no longer in operation while backing up the drive way...

I got home with the new boat today so excited...go to back it up the drive way (slight incline) I got to the very first part where it starts to incline up...relize I need to brake to straighten out...so I do so...and then when I went to back up agian the brakes where locked and wouldnt let me back the trailer up...it also happens if I am backing it up and just tap the brakes they lock...

I have an EZ Loader trailer...I see there is a button on the bottom of the arm of the trailer like right where the thng connects to the ball on the hitch...it is underneath and it says push before towing to ensure brakes are released....what if I just pushed thin in and then wrapped tape around it...would that turn the brakes off just untill I could get it up the drive way and in the garage or is there anoutehr way?

This also happend on the very slight incline of my street when I tried to back it up from anouther angle (On flat land or downhill it backs up like a dream but on any type of incline they will lock up if I hit the breaks or slow down (stop)...)

Like I said tis a 2006 EZ LOADER EXL-3500...

thanks!
