Had a really bad weekend. Took the boat up to Kingston. When we got therewe had a good time on Saturday.
Driving the boat home yesterday resulted in a disaster. I blew one of the transmissions/drives on my boat. Smoke, burning smell adn shaking. Thought the boat was on fire but it wasn't. had to drive back to Rondout Yacht Basin very slowly on 1 engine. When I got to a marina to tie it up for the night and shut off the working engine I noticed that the boat was taking on water. The marina had to do an emergency haul out ($$$$$$$$$) and the mechanic that looked at it quickly says he had no idea what is wrong.
I called a local Volvo ceritified marina in the area and they said they will not be able to work on the boat until next Spring.
I am calling around now trying to get someone to trailer the boat down($$$$$$$$$) to the Stony Point area where there is a few yards that can work on it or I will be able to have them work on it over the winter and its close to home. So far striking out because the boat is too wide and tall and they dont want to deal with it. I am also paying a daily rate ($$$$) on storage of the boat where its at now.
I would drive it home on 1 engine but its taking on water through the broken drive and there is no way to patch it. The work that needs to be done is a major job.
My boating season is over now but I am just trying to get the boat fixed.
Just had to vent.
