I love the Ft. Meyers area. I'm going to Chokoloskee fishing for a week in October. My friend and I go there 2-3 times a year.

Been to Bowlingreen a few times too. LOVE the Corvette museum. My daughter lives in Louisville.

Yeah, we're in Ky now but can't wait to get back to Ft. Myers. We really like that area too, especially downtown Ft. Myers now that it has had a total restoration. Looking forward to using the boat more this next season.

We passed through last week and it looked good. The West coast is looking alot more attractive to us vs. the East coast. It seems there is more for the money there.

Dan,

IMHO, no contest. The lower West Coast is the best. If I had it to do again that's exactly where I'd go. I really like the Ft. Meyers and Marco Island area but I LOVE the Sanibel Island area.

We like to anchor out and the Cayo Costa State Park is an awesome place to do that. Great fishing, beach walking, and a burger and fries at Cabbage Key. Take the dingy and do some exploring. Great times with the grandson.......

You are not alowed to live there unless you can properly pronounce Matlacha and Bokeelia

Mat-La -Shay and Bo-Key-lee-a....with the a as ah, like in ah-ha..Hope I passed.

Bob any particular reason? The boating looks a little better that way, is that the main reason? I think that perhaps the S.E. coast is pretty good also, a bit more crowded tho.

MUCH less crowded on the west side. Fishing is really REALLY good and the OWW is right there to pop over to the east side.

Plus, from Marco Island, Key West is only 90 miles due south.

KW is about an 8 hour run from Punta Gorda

RWS

That depends on the boat. We were two days from Marathon up to Ft. Myers. Stopped in Everglades and Naples. But we run at 7-8 knots and enjoy the ride.
