Anyone going to the show? Been already? Opinions?

I hope to make it into the city tomorrow and have fun checking it out.

I'm going to skip the show this year. Based on opinions from other shows this year, I expect this to be about the same. I about 1 1/2 hours away. When adding up all the cost to go there, including travel, it's barely worth it.

Watched the local news in Baltimore last night. They did a piece on the show. People interviewed were disappointed because its half the show it used to be. A MarineMax dealer was interviewed and said that service is carrying his business because sales are so bad. He said most people are repairing or doing upgrades to their current boat rather than buy new. Also said the $1M+ boat sales were still on track but lower cost boats sales were off 25%.

Just got back from the show and it was a shadow of its former size, only one large exhibit hall. There weren't many large boats, a few 35' and a 37' Cobalt, except about a 50' Island Packet sailboat. The accessory vendors were not as numerous in previous years. I did notice alot of vendors selling non-boating related products, like gutter guards, porch swings, front doors and granite counter tops, and free freezer full of food! Was a fun day but I didn't care for the $10 parking fee for a show that was this small.
