Looking at a bare boat charter for July 2008 out of Ft Lauderdale. Had a 40 ft last year from Jung in Tampa, would not do it again. Looking at something in the 45ft plus to handle 8 folks and run over to the Bahamas. Need something nice, wife was a little pissed at the quality of boat last year.

Any ideas?

I would not charter a boat with the intention of running out to the Bahamas for a short stay. Your travel is totally dependent on weather. Best to charter a boat that is already out there. You save a bunch of fuel and the Bahamas entry fees.

I would be surprised if anyone would allow charterer to make that trip without a crew.

Best deal is to charter a boat over in the Abacos. Easy Google Search. Fly out of Fort Lauderdale is an easy way for Floridians, maybe better for you to check Jax departures.

At ten knots you're six hours to Bimini and eight or nine to Lucaya on Grand Bahama Island. The SOP is to leave at dusk and arrive at dawn. You will NEED daylight to navigate Bahamian waters.
