I was anchored off of Short Beach today, swimming near the boat, and when the boat started rockin, I noticed the little white barnacles just above my water line. I went to clean them off, and now I have two problems...first I have ablative paint, and when I went to scrub, it came off clean to the hull. Second, the little suckers seem to have eaten through the gelcoat, because I have little grey spots. I spent $500 on the bottom paint job, and now I am thinking ablative is not the right paint for April through November NY boats. Anyone else having issues? Should I do hard bottom paint, then ablative?
