Not much ado until you try hooking it up that way. So your proposal is to treat the existing bank as one big 12 volt battery and put it in series with the last, fourth battery. Then tap the current 12v load off the exisiting bank. Now, how do you plan on charging that set up, and how do you avoid burning through batteries in the process? You could hook up a two bank charger, one lead to the main bank and one to the odd man out. But it ain't going to solve the overall issue.

How does it burn through batteries??
As I said earlier there will only be the equivalent of one battery powering the trolling motor so I suspect there wont be as much power as the OP expects. Obviously it will also reduce power available for the electronics cause the three batts will be providing 33% of the power provided by the single.

There is much untold in the queation. is it a 100 Ton survey boat or an alum inum skiff??
Is a single battery really going to be enough to do what he wants?

How are the present batteries charged??
He asked for 24V and I gave him an answer.

This is only a 25' aluminum. the outboard and house batteries are independent For these batteries have a 4 bank charger on the shore power or Genny.I go to split two batteries will be in parallel for the 1000 Watts inverter and the other two in series for the 24 Volts trolling maximum usage on trolling 2 hrs a day and draws about 35Amps. Thank you all for the great info..
