If you are thinking of going fishing or passing under the Bay Bridge on May 7th be aware of this notice from NTM.

"The annual Bay Bridge Walk will occur on Sunday, May 7, 2006. During the event, as provided for in Title 33 Code of Federal Regulations Part 165.507, a security zone is established upon all waters of the Chesapeake Bay, between Sandy Point and Kent Island, Maryland, from 250 yards north of the north span of the William P. Lane Jr. Memorial Bridge (Chesapeake Bay Bridge) to 250 yards south of the south span of the bridge.
The zone will be enforced from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 6, 2007. Entry into or remaining in this zone is prohibited unless authorized by the Coast Guard Captain of the Port (COTP) Baltimore, Maryland. Persons or vessels requiring entry into or passage through the security zone must first request authorization from the COTP Baltimore to seek permission to transit the area. The COTP Baltimore, Maryland can be contacted at telephone number (410) 576-2693. Patrol vessels enforcing this zone can be contacted on marine band radio channel 16 VHF-FM, and upon being hailed by siren, radio, flashing light or other means, the operator of a vessel shall comply with the instructions of the official patrol and proceed as directed. If authorized to transit through the security zone, persons and vessels will do so without loitering, drifting or anchoring, and will proceed at the minimum speed necessary to maintain a safe course while within the zone. The U.S. Coast Guard may be assisted in the patrol and enforcement of the zone by Federal, State, and local agencies.

Thanks for the heads up, Mike. Note though that it's May 6 this year, not 7th.

Error in the NTM Sunday is the 6th. This also means that all the parking at Sandy Hook Park will be full so probably no lauching there on Sunday. Traffic across the bridge will be a mess as well.

Last year the Volvo Ocean Race was restarting that day as well. It was a zoo out there.

Thanks for the heads up. I had forgotten it was that time again.
