What's interesting also is after I read the fine print, the data is not real-time, but "near time". It is delayed by 1 hour, but forecasts ahead for 2 hours.I wonder why it is delayed for 1 hour. I could understand a few minutes.
 
I'm guessing the delay is similar to the delay in stock market data. The data provider probably charges a premium for real time data and gives near real time data away. Since current data is time critical for sailors, I'm betting there is a service available that provides it for a fee. Just a guess...
 
You might be right, but stock market data delay is only a few minutes
Does not look like the data provider here has any way of collecting $$

Traffic flow data on roads is delayed as well, but only a few minutes

Wonder if it is related to the complexity of the data model
