Bayesian sank

A previous captain of that boat published some notes which while avoiding speculation describe the systems, stability, limitations and hatch/opening configuration

Very interesting read. Scroll down the discussion on this YachtForums link

Listening to the video that boat was a recipe for disaster. Self opening doors (unless locked) with a low free board into the cockpit? Duh. However interesting the article says it went down to the opposite side.

Looks like a knock down to starboard will let it flow in past the sliding doors.

Yep. And more concerning is how a 45 degree list will cause the ER to flood! You d think they d have the dampers close once it reaches 45 degree.

As an aside, I'm wondering why passengers would find this kind of boat a comfortable ride for passage? I mean sure it is a sailboat but do you really want that ride for prolonged deep water passages? Who wants to lounge on a deck heeled over? Or dine like sailors of old? Sure the food is great, but can you reach your plate? The whole thing seems like self flagellation.

Neet to look at at, but I never understood these superyatch class sailboats -- for all the reasons Greg just mentioned. How can you keep up with all your food and booze bouncing along heeled over!

It's the adventure aspect of the sailing and I am sure they expect to be at a comfortable anchorage for meals etc.. Sadly this anchorage did not work out at all.

These boats whether private or charter don’t spend a lot of time under way with guests preferring shorter runs to the next spot. And they can easily motorsail fully stabilized and without heeling should they need to serve meals underway

So what we have is an under keeled, under ballasted, over masted and top heavy sailing boat of sloop design. And the counter to that weakness was everyone keep the hatches, and vents closed. What could go wrong?

Someone could buy it and trust their lives to it and an overconfident crew. RIP.

Either way doesn't sound very pleasant. How could we be sure of that vs. cancer, or a stroke into limited function though. Is terror vs. prolonged suffering a legit comparison?

Innteresting that among Lynch's clients were MI5, NSA and Israeli Secret Service. He kept 2 encrypted hard drives with him and did not trust the Cloud with any sensitive data.

Photos are of port side (only). Starboard side is also very interesting. The photos also don't show the sliding door and whether or not it was latched.
