OK, I can't get search to work, so I apologize if this is covered already, but...
Discovered over the weekend that two of my bowrail stanchion bases are leaking into the cabin. Fortunately I have easy access to the underside.
What should I use for bedding? 3M 4200? Sikaflex? Something else?
Do I have this process roughly right?
- Detach fitting, pry up, use some kind of anti-bond if necessary.
- Scrape clean, scuff with sandpaper, clean up with acetone or alcohol.
- Apply bedding compound to both surfaces and bolt heads.
- Affix hardware snugly until compound squeezes out.
- After it sets, tighten it down firmly.
Thanks.
