Bellport Reach

Hello All , New here but been spying since 2011...
Anyway can anyone tell me if all is same or changed at the Bellport reach ...the area that is west of the Smith Point Bridge that heads you north (south) before you point yourself West ...(if you are heading from east to west )

Only asking because I heard that there is concern that the new Breech (inlet ) is going to affect the water levels / channel depth of the reach ... filling in the channel is possibly expected ..

Any comments experiences appreciated

I am heading east to Westhampton soon and also would like to know if this is the same as last year.

No problems there.. stay in the channel and you will be A-OK.. the only difference is the water is alot cleaner there now, same depths. When heading esat to WHB, you will have to pass all the guys fishing in the channel in narrows bay. that is where you have to be really careful. dont leave the channel there.

Report from the manager of Eastport Marina is that Moriches Bay is clear. Just keep an eye out for some shoaling near the inlet. That area has always been a problem, which is why some of the buoys are not on the charts. Stay in the channel and watch your depth guage. Enjoy your trip. Hy
