Best iPhone Marine Apps

Marine weather, GPS Status, RMaps, Time to Fish, Tide Prediction, Wifi Analyzer, Speed Test, Navigator Trial, Navigation, Scanner Radio. Earth NC (marine). All available for free on droid.
Some are better than others, but try them out and see if you can use any of them.

Let us know how that works if you buy... The reviews look alright. Makes sense since most of us have our phones with us all the time. Hope the data can be backed up in I tunes so if we lose the phone we don't lose the data.

Would anyone be interested in an AIS app? Most near-shore AIS traffic is received by hobbyists who post it on the internet. It would seem reasonable to have an app access this database and display in on your iPhone or Droid.

Up to date Fuel Prices on Lake Michigan, will give you the current price of gas or diesel, if it has valvect, phone number, lat long, hours, and website info. This has been especially useful in the Chicago area where the prices can fluctuate over a dollar a gallon if you travel 10 miles down the lake.
 
You can add Spyglass to this list of useful apps. I just love using it for marine navigation and for marking my fishing spots.

These applications are all fairly low bandwidth apps, even 3G service will work using any of the above applications over a cellular network.

+1 Capt Rd, even though Jeff and I argue all the time about WiFi he has developed a fantastic product that's interactive and updated all the time. I'd call it a great East Coast application. It's really good for navigating the ditch aka AICW and the Islands.

Since this thread was last active, the app I now use the most is Garmin Blue chart. The Charts are excellent including the bahamas and it does include active captain data which I feel as really changed how we cruise and navigate.

Plus MyRadar for weather radar and WindAlert for wind. Here in Miami WindAlert has a number of private wind station, including one on dinner key channel red 1 which unlikes noaa buoys refreshed ever couple of minutes. You have to pay for the service but the for sail-aholics like us it is incredibly useful.
