If you want to stay clear of salt water, there's really only one viable alternative, i.e., Lake Winnipesaukee in NH. (Which is where I keep my boat.) There's a Carver dealer, and lots of Carvers, on the lake.
It might be a bit of a commute for you from Auburn, but many of my slipmates at the marina have a longer drive thn yours would be. In my case, it's 100 miles driveway to slip, but I wouldn't move for any reason.
If you're interested, I'd recommend accessing Winnipesaukee.com and checking out the photpost and lake links sections (especially the photopost - Winnipesaukee is said to translate as "the smile of the Great Spirit" and that's very, very appropriate). I'd be more than happy to answer any questions you might have, either here or via PM or email.
