"Here is a list of the projected work:
Week of July 6 – There will be more clearing operations on the south side of the bridge. A 36" drain line will be installed along the west side of Bethel Island Rd at Wells Rd and turning East at Wells Rd. In addition the Contractor will start the Wells Rd Detour. When the detour is in place, Wells Rd traffic will use it to allow re-construction of the existing Wells Rd.
Mon Jul 6 – Intermittently for the project, the two bridge lanes will be reduced to one line with flaggers on both ends.
Wed Jul 8 – Start trestle at D'Anna location. A trestle is a temporary bridge used by the Contractor to access the permanent work. It includes 24" piling and steel members to support the crane.
The north trestle construction is anticipated to take a week and a half. The south trestle construction is anticipated to start after the north and take 2 and 2½ weeks.
The permanent piling (48") will start around July 20 for the north piles. These piles are 85' long pile casings that weigh 40,000 pounds. During pile and column construction, the center of the pile will be drilled out and 110' long re-bar cages will be installed. As needed the bridge will be closed for the safety of the public. All pile driving will be LOUD. Please close your windows near the project.
The navigational opening will have a 33.3' width available and will be restricted for safety reasons during certain operations. These include trestle construction and piling and column construction for the adjacent piers.
